Rota for litter pick ups in the Ward Rivervalley Park

Motion: Councillor D. Smith
“That the Chief Executive examines the need for a dedicated rota for litter pick
ups in the Ward Rivervalley Park”.

 

Report:
The Operations Department recently carried out a large scale litter pick in the
Ward River Valley Park which involved the removal of in excess of 170 bags of
litter and other associated items .
Cleansing operations within the Park are carried out as existing resources allow
and the installation of CCTV monitoring to deter littering and unauthorised
disposal of household waste within the park is currently being considered in
consultation with the Council’s Environment Section .

Motion: Councillor D. Smith
“That the road surface and margins at Jugback Lane between the Jugback Lane
Estate and the Glen Ellan Road be repaired and landscaped to improve the
stretch and make it safer”.

 

Report:
This location is listed on the 2018 Area Engineers Works Programme for road
repairs. Following completion of the repair works, measures to prevent vehicles
from driving on the landscaped area will be explored.

Question: Councillor D. Smith
“To ask the Chief Executive if the road surface under the railway bridge at Ballisk
can be resurfaced and repaired to mitigate against flooding and ponding?”

 

Reply:
There is budget provision for surface restoration works on Beaverstown Road
and under the railway bridge at Ballisk in the current programme of work. The
work is expected to be scheduled for the 3rd quarter of 2018 following
completion of watermain renewal works in the area by Irish Water.

Question: Councillor D. Smith
“To ask the Chief Executive to have the utility box at the corner outside 34
Jugback Lane be repaired and closed, the surrounding pathway be repaired and
finished as the box and disrepaired pathway are both dangerous.”

 

Reply:
The damaged utility box was reported to the provider on the 5th April 2018 for
repair. Any necessary repairs to the footpath area will be carried out once the
utility provider has attended to this matter.

“To ask the Chief Executive can a maintenance plan be put in place to remove the
broken glass on cycle paths in Swords and to include the tarmac playing areas in
our public parks.”

 

Reply:
Parks and play facilitates are patrolled daily by Mobile Rangers and any broken
glass is removed as a matter of course. Cycle paths are cleared as detected or
reported.

Question: Councillor D. Smith
“To ask the Chief Executive to develop a scheme in advance of Winter 2018/2019,
to allow Residents Associations apply to have a salt/grit salt deposit bin in their
estates in advance of any future cold weather events and with a view to aid
residents efforts in keeping roads inside estates safe?”

 

Reply:
A review of severe weather advance preparations and emergency response is
underway in Fingal and the issue of salt deposit bins across the community will
be considered as part of the review.
