Question: Councillor D. Smith

“To ask the Chief Executive can a plan be provided to improve traffic flows into
and out of Holy Family School at peak times?”

Reply:
There is a voluntary one way traffic flow system in place, at present, during pick
up and drop off times at the Holy Family School. There is a pedestrian entrance
from the car park of St Finian’s Church which is also used by parents at pick up
and drop off times.
Representatives from the Operations Department are available to meet with the
board of management, school principal and parents to investigate the
development of a traffic plan for pick-up and drop off time

Question: Councillor D. Smith

“To ask the Manager can temporary plastic barriers be installed on the path on
the Portrane Road to protect school children walking to school, whilst such heavy
industrial traffic is using the road?”

Reply:
The provision of temporary plastic bollards on the path on the Portrane Road
would reduce the available width of the footpath for wheelchair users, parents
with buggies/prams, and make it difficult for pedestrians to pass each other
safely on the footpath. Consideration is not being given to the provision of
bollards at the present time.

Question: Councillor D. Smith

“To ask the Manager what is the process for residents to follow if they wish to relandscape
the grass verge outside their house such as lay concrete on it, and are
there any rules against this?”

Reply:
The grass verges referred to in the question are public land and as such, should
not be altered in any way by any residents.
Insurance Section advise that householders may be held legally liable for any
claims which might arise as a result of the presence of an altered surface

Question: Councillor D. Smith

“To ask the Chief Executive can the Council construct a gravel path along the
desire line between the road and the entrance to Baldongan Cemetery to protect
further damage to the private lands through which this desired line travels and
noting that the landowner is happy for such a path to be constructed?”

Reply:
There is an existing gravel footpath linking the public road and the entrance
gates to the church/burial ground. The path will be inspected to determine if it
