Traffic Enforcement Church Road / Bridge St

News

January 12, 2016 by Duncan Smith

Question: Councillor D. Smith “To ask the Chief Executive what measures are in place to combat illegal parking at the “triangle” where Church Road joins Bridge St in Swords?”

Reply: The triangle where Church Road joins Bridge Street does not form part of the area controlled by Swords pay and display parking. A traffic management scheme will be prepared and presented to the Area Committee when a source of funding is identified. Enforcement of illegal parking is a matter for An Garda Síochána who are the enforcement authority.

Question: Councillor D. Smith “To ask the Chief Executive to provide more dog litter bins or regular bins on the Glen Ellan Road in order to meet the demand for bins on this very popular walking and dog walking route?”

Reply: Dog litter can be disposed of in any public litter bin, and is not restricted to just dog litter only bins. There are 9 public litter bins located along the Glen Ellan road and these are emptied on a daily basis. This is considered sufficient for the volumes of pedestrian movement in this area.

Question: Councillor D. Smith “To ask the Chief Executive to provide speed readers on the Rathbeale Road after the triangle on Bridge St?”

Reply: There are traffic signals at the junction of Rathbeale Road and Watery Lane, 85m from the western end of the triangle and also at the junction of Main Street and Bridge Street approximately 150m to the east of the triangle. Signalised junctions are a form of traffic calming that requires traffic to reduce speed in the area. The provision of a speed reader on the Rathbeale Road after the triangle on Bridge St would not be considered a priority.
