Swords Go Car

News

November 9, 2017 by Duncan Smith

Question: Councillor D. Smith
“To ask the Chief Executive what negotiations are taking place with GoCar towards allowing GoCar provide a service to Swords and what are the Chief Executive’s thoughts on this service?”

Reply:
Following an approach from Go Car a pilot was launched earlier this year in the Castleknock/Mulhuddart area. The company has expressed an interest in extending the service to a number of locations. The pilot will be evaluated and the issue of extending it to other areas will be considered at the January 2018 Transportation Strategic Policy Committee.

Motion: Councillor D. Smith
“That the fence behind Lioscian is repaired as a matter of urgency to stop
stockpiling of bonfire materials and related anti-social behaviour.”

Report:
The fence in question is a boundary fence between a private residential
development and private lands. It is likely that this boundary treatment will
significantly change when the private land is being developed.
In the meantime consideration will be given to carrying out repairs.

Motion: Councillor D. Smith
“That this Committee agrees to replace the panel fencing at Castleview Lawns
and replace with a wall or railing fence in order to finish the boundary with
Miller’s Glen to a standard befitting the rest of the boundary between the two
estates.”

Report:
In order to evaluate a potential boundary treatment a section of the wooden
infill panel wall between Castleview Lawns and Miller’s Glen was replaced with a
textured concrete panel during 2017. Consideration can be given to extending
this solution in the 2018 programme of works.

Motion: Councillor D. Smith
“In light of the proliferation of accidents at Blake’s Cross, that this Committee calls for a review of road safety at this location and to put in place any recommended improvements from this review as soon as possible.”

Report:
The road markings will be reviewed at Blakes Cross with a view to making the left
turn merge from the R127 onto the R128 safer. This will include slow paint
markings with yellow bars on the R127 approach to the R132 at Blakes cross,
adjusting the road markings and lane widths on the R132 and providing lane
definition pencil bollards in a southerly direction from the southern end of the
traffic island along the R132.

Question: Councillor D. Smith
“To ask the Chief Executive if there are any plans to provide a pedestrian bridge or crossing at the dual carriageway at Pinnock Hill?”

Reply:
Consideration will be given to the provision of pedestrian crossing north of the Pinnock Hill roundabout as part of the 2018 programme of works. Part of the consideration will likely involve some element of public consultation as well as consideration of the potential impacts of Metro North or any other similar scheme
