Traffic Calming Castleview

Question: Councillor D. Smith “To ask the Chief Executive can he provide any further details on plans to provide traffic calming measures in the Castleview/Ashton Broc Estate?”

Reply: Subject to a site survey consideration will be given to the installation of some traffic calming measures as part of the 2017 programme of works.

Question: Councillor D. Smith “To ask the Chief Executive can signage or other methods be put in place at the exit from the Applegreen Garage on North Street as the layout needs to differentiate the pedestrian path on North St for the safety of pedestrians?”

Reply: This is a vehicular entrance across a pedestrian footpath to a private premises. The responsibility is for vehicle users to yield to pedestrians on the footpath and in this regard any signage or lining is a matter for the property owner to erect on the private property. The concerns raised in the question will be conveyed to the management of the premises

Question: Councillor D. Smith “To ask the Chief Executive to examine the road directional markings on the approach from the Malahide Road to the Mountgorry Roundabout, (Applegreen station roundabout) as the arrows are such, that both lanes are inclined to drive straight and this may result in an accident?”

Reply: Lane direction arrows have been provided on the Mountgorry Roundabout on the approaches from Malahide and from Swords. On the approach from Swords, eastbound approach, lane indication arrows RRM 006 (right arrow) and RRM 004 (straight ahead) have been provided. On the approach from Malahide, westbound, lane indication arrows RRM 004 (straight ahead) and RRM 005 (left turn) have been provided. The lane indication arrows listed above were installed to provide 2 queuing lanes at the yield lane to increase the capacity of the roundabout. There are no plans to provide additional road markings at this location.

Question: Councillor D. Smith “To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the works planned for the boundary between Miller’s Glen and Castleview Heath & Green following consultation with residents in 2015?”

Reply: Details for these areas of open space have been agreed with the developer by way of compliance. Some of these works have been completed and some outstanding and we expect these will be completed in the near future.

Motion: Councillor D. Smith “That the Chief Executive provides a traffic management plan for Swords Village for the December period to cope with potential traffic problems caused by the opening of the new Lidl and Aldi stores and in particular ensuring that traffic access to the estates between the Malahide Road and the Seatown Road remains accessible in case of emergencies.”

Report: Fingal County Council will liaise with An Garda Síochána in relation to traffic movement around Swords during the month of December. The roads in the Swords area are considered priority routes where roadworks will not be permitted during the month of December to help alleviate potential traffic problems. All Traffic signals have been optimised to maximise the capacity of the junctions where they are located. The operations department will continue to monitor the operation of the traffic signals and make changes to timings if required.

Question: Councillor D. Smith “To ask the Chief Executive that the Estate of Glen Ellan & Sandford Wood be included in the 30kph speed limit scheme for 2017?”

Reply: Glen Ellan and Sandford Wood will be considered in the next Speed Limit Review for the reduction of speed limits within in housing estates.
