Traffic Calming Castleview / Ashton Broc

September 8, 2016 by Duncan Smith

Motion: Councillor D. Smith “That this Committee agree that traffic calming measures are required for the Castleview/Ashton Broc estates in Swords in light of recent incidents including a serious traffic accident.”

Report: The estate in Castleview/ Aston Broc has a 50kph speed limit. The through road is over 500m in length. There are 2 accesses to the estate. The road through the estate is not straight but was constructed with curves to discourage speeding. In addition there is extensive nose to kerb parking which would make the installation of traffic calming ramps more difficult. The installation of traffic calming measures are therefore not recommended.
