The Guidelines for Setting and Managing Speed Limits in Ireland advises that the appropriate speed limit for a rural single carriageway of less than 7.0m is 80km/h The guidelines advise that in situations where there are rural clusters along a route consideration could be given to reducing the speed limit. There are no rural clusters from Balscadden to Tobersool Lane. It is not intended to reduce the speed limit along this route.
