Roundabout Corner on the Glen Ellan Road

March 9, 2017 by Duncan Smith

Question: Councillor D. Smith
“To ask the Chief Executive can he examine the corner of the roundabout on the
2nd Glen Ellan Road in with a view to building out the corner on the Bride’s Glen
side of the roundabout so cars travelling downhill from the Rathbeal road take
the left hand turn towards the Gaelscoil and educate together schools at a
slower speed?”

Reply:
Constructing a build out at the exit of the roundabout, where there are 2 lanes at
the yield line would reduce the capacity of the roundabout. A build out would
slow the progress of vehicles approaching the roundabout who wish to travel to
the second or third exit, resulting in long queues on the approach to the
roundabout.
Consideration will be given to the placement of slow text road markings on the
approach to the yield line.
