Donabate Malahide Coastal Walkway

February 12, 2016 by Duncan Smith

Question: Councillor D. Smith –  “To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the proposed Donabate – Malahide pedestrian and cycle way?”

Reply: Since last reporting to the elected representatives, Fingal County Council and its legal advisors have completed a review of the Natura Impact Statement. Our environmental consultant is finalising both the Natura Impact Statement and the Environmental Impact Statement. When all the documentation is complete and ready to lodge with An Bord Pleanála, the Council will bring a presentation to this Area Committee Meeting. Council staff continue to engage with affected landowners with regard to land transfer and accommodation works. Irish Rail continue to work closely with us on this project. They have made progress in addressing environmental/legal issues pertaining to the railway causeway across the estuary and have been engaging with the National Parks and Wildlife Services in that regard. The Council continues to seek likely funding sources with a view to moving the project towards implementation stage.
