Meakstown/Lanesborough Park Pitches

September 8, 2016 by Duncan Smith

Question: Councillor D. Smith “To ask the Chief Executive can the goal posts on the pitch in Lanesborough Park be changed from soccer posts to GAA posts given that the pitch currently is not used by any soccer teams?”

Reply: The pitch is currently allocated to a local GAA club for nursery only on a Saturday morning who use temporary demountable posts and is not used for competitive matches. The dimensions of the pitch make it unsuitable for competitive GAA matches. The pitch is used however for soccer by the local community games. This is one of the few pitches in the area with spare capacity. If a club of either code wishes to apply for an allocation the Operations department will be more than happy to ensure appropriate posts are installed to meet locally generated demand.
